From Screen to Shareable: One-Click PDF, Excel, and Portfolio Reports

The analysis is the easy part. Packaging it into something you can send to a partner, a manager, or an investment committee is where the afternoon goes. WellStrata's Report Center closes that gap.

Every reservoir engineer knows the tax. You build the type curve, you rank the operators, you pull the production history — and then you spend the rest of the afternoon copying charts into a deck, reformatting tables in Excel, and chasing down the one number that doesn’t tie out. The analysis took twenty minutes. The report took two hours.

WellStrata’s Report Center is built to erase that second number. It turns the view you’re already looking at into a polished, shareable report — PDF, Excel, or GIS — without re-work.

Four reports, generated from what’s on screen

The Report Center doesn’t ask you to re-enter anything. It packages the data already loaded in the view you’re in.

The well one-pager. Open any well and click PDF or Excel. You get a single-page dossier: header and location, a production summary (cumulative oil/gas/water, peak month, IP30, months on production), the completion and frac parameters, the QC score, and an inline production chart. It’s the “tell me about this well” artifact you’d otherwise assemble by hand, generated in a couple of seconds.

The type-curve report. After you build a P10/P50/P90 type curve for a cohort, export it. The report carries the curves, the EUR for each percentile, the well count, and the filters that defined the cohort — everything a reviewer needs to judge whether the type well is defensible.

The operator-benchmark report. Rank operators by IP30, cumulative oil, well count, or lateral length, then export the ranking as a PDF or Excel with the top-operators chart. It’s the leaderboard, ready to drop into a screening memo.

The portfolio report. This is the one that saves the most time. Point it at a saved Well List and it rolls the whole set up into one report: total production, an aggregate decline curve, the operator mix, the formation mix, and the top wells by cumulative oil. When someone asks “what’s in this acreage block?”, the portfolio report is the answer — one document instead of an afternoon.

PDF for people, Excel for models, GeoJSON/KML for maps

Format follows audience.

  • PDF is for stakeholders — partners, management, an investment committee. It’s laid out, branded, and print-ready. Under the hood it’s rendered server-side, so what you download is exactly what everyone else sees.
  • Excel is for analysts. The portfolio workbook ships with separate sheets — summary, per-well detail, operator mix, monthly production — so the numbers are live in the tool your team already models in.
  • GeoJSON and KML are for GIS. Hand a Well List’s located wells straight to QGIS, ArcGIS, or Google Earth. It’s worth noting that the largest incumbent platform doesn’t export GeoJSON or KML at all — a small thing until it’s the thing standing between you and your mapping workflow.

Reports you don’t have to remember to run

On-demand reporting is half the story. The other half is not having to think about it.

From any Well List, you can schedule the portfolio report to be emailed on a recurring cadence — weekly or monthly, PDF or Excel, to whichever recipients you choose. A land team watching a competitor’s acreage gets a fresh rollup every Monday. An asset manager gets a monthly portfolio summary in their inbox on the first. Nobody logs in to generate it; it just arrives.

Scheduled delivery is where reporting stops being a task and becomes infrastructure. The report writes itself, on time, to the people who need it — which is exactly what reporting was supposed to be before it became a manual chore.

Where it fits

The Report Center is available on the Professional plan and up; scheduled email delivery is an Enterprise capability. Both are built on the same data you already trust in WellStrata — production, completions, FracFocus chemistry, type curves, QC scoring — so a report is never a separate dataset to reconcile. It’s the same analysis, in a form you can send.

The point isn’t that WellStrata makes reports. It’s that it makes the report the last click of the analysis, not the first hour of the next task.
